SFP, GPON, OpenWRT and Home Network

OMG! It’s September!!!!, Wake me up when September ends… Haha. Okay, the Home network affects our daily WFH connection, I was thinking about upgrading some of my home devices, for security and fast connectivity (MS Teams meeting and the word “sorry got disconnected” )πŸ˜‡. Sometimes thinking about upgrades provides action results πŸ€”πŸ˜ and a little bit of wallet burn. πŸ’°πŸ§

So I look around and learn again about gigabit connections and stuff. And it’s the following that caught my attention. (Boredom sometimes is connected to learning) lol.

Do you know how your Wi-Fi router at home helps you connect to the internet? Well, sometimes it’s like having a plain, everyday outfit. But when you put on the OpenWRT superhero costume, your router becomes super powerful!

OpenWRT makes your router smarter and lets you do cool things like adding new features, making it super secure, and even changing how it looks. It’s like turning your plain router into a Wi-Fi superhero that can do amazing tricks to make your internet better and safer. πŸ¦Έβ€β™‚οΈπŸŒπŸš€

SFP (Small Form-Factor Pluggable): Think of this like a superhero costume change. It’s a tiny device that can be plugged into your internet equipment, like a modem or router. It helps your internet connection be faster and go longer distances. Imagine it’s like putting on a jetpack for your internet!

GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network): Now, picture this like magic glasses for your home. GPON uses special invisible light beams (like a wizard’s wand) to send internet into your house. It’s super fast and can be shared with lots of people in your family, just like how everyone can watch their shows on TV.

So, SFP makes your internet equipment better, and GPON is like magic glasses that bring fast internet to your home. Both of them work together to make your internet awesome! πŸš€βœ¨
