What is FinOps

FinOps was born because of necessity due to in the cloud spending mess. (that is just my personal opinion).

In organization, basically. (FinOps Drivers or FinOps persona)

• C level people wanted cost savings, spending at minimal.
• Finance Team wanted predictability of $$$, forecasted as plan. They dont want to surprises on $$$.
• Engineering Team wanted also freedom and autonomy on new tech products they incorporate to organization battle on waste and productivity.
• Operations Team wanted to cloud optimize to limit cloud spending.

So FinOps will save something from your cloud spending?

The answer is NO. :) it will make your spending more efficient if FinOps is implemented properly within organization.

How do we build FinOps within our Organization?

Org are also implementing FinOps but they;re not aware. :) especially those org that is using cloud workload regardless if its Amazon Web Services or Azure or Google cloud.

Do we have FinOps tools that solve problem?

There are many, but FinOps is a process that needs to be agreed upon by the FinOps personas. (C level, Finance, Engineering and Cloud Team). Tools will follow if FinOps is define, built.

So what’s next?,

Organization will looking at this area and you need to learn it fast.
